Derry is buzzing with excitement for this year’s Foyle Maritime Festival beginning on June 27th! With 150,000 visitors anticipated over the weekend, the City is set to make waves with one of the country’s biggest and most spectacular nautical celebrations. An event is not to be missed!

The festival is delivered by Derry City and Strabane District Council in partnership with key stakeholders Foyle Port and Loughs Agency and supported by a range of funders including TNI, Diageo, and Ulster University.

New highlights for this year include a Carnival of Colours which will take over the lower stretch of the quayside, bringing with it high energy performances and street entertainment, and for the first time will host the Get Up Street Art Festival which celebrates graffiti culture, with a live painting street party and painting workshops to enjoy.

The family-centred celebrations will also include plenty of entertainment and activities to keep the kids more than busy throughout the festival, with water sport taster sessions and a vintage funfair on offer.

Derry’s maritime story is one that is unique and embraces a world class history that spans thousands of years. In this spirit, there will be six Tall Ships which will be berthed at the Quayside throughout the festival where people can find out more about their fascinating history and trips on the high seas.

The event space has now also been transformed to create a more accessible and user-friendly experience for visitors, and there is now a redesigned market configuration that will provide a more visitor friendly environment.
