A City Together Will Combat Digital Poverty
The Ballyarnett DEA Community Support Team is made up of 20+ local Community and Voluntary sector groups working together with our community playgroups/Nursery schools, nine (9) local primary schools and (3) secondary schools in the area to support individuals and families in need. I work with this team.
Our immediate priority from late March was the provision of essential food supplies approx. 2500 household food deliveries to date health, wellbeing, and self-care activity packs 5000+ delivered to residents of all ages to date. All community groups across the city have been doing the same, caring for others.
However, since early May we have also been made aware and very concerned, that many of the young children living within the Ballyarnett DEA and all areas of the city have not been able to continue their learning, due to the lack of IT equipment and access to broadband within the home.
The Ballyarnett DEA Community Support Team and all community groups have been inundated with requests from individuals and families ringing our community helpline, contacting the local ETHOS family Support Hubs and contacting the school principals for IT support so their children can access google classroom, online learning resources etc now and over the summer months.
As a result, we are making this appeal to acquire I-Pads, tablets or laptops, used or unused, for all children and young people in our City who are impacted upon by Digital Poverty.
All Community groups and schools in the city are desperately in need and our campaign is to help and all these young people.
A big thank you to everyone who is supporting our appeal.
Many Thanks
