The organisers of the 2nd Annual Alchemy Cup have thanked participants and supporters for their help in raising a staggering £2,431 in support of Young Lives vs Cancer. The event, held on August 10th, transformed St. Columb’s College into a hub of excitement and community spirit as local businesses united to champion this noble cause.

This year’s tournament saw significant sportsmanship, and dedication from the participating teams, resulting in an unparalleled display of community solidarity. Congratulations were in order for the team from AXA Insurance, who secured their victory for the second consecutive year as the Champions League winners. Applause also went to Meta Compliance for their well-deserved victory in the Europa League final, while Allstate NI emerged as the victors in the Conference League Final.

Reflecting on the success of this event, the organiser James Deery said “I’m immensely grateful for the incredible support during the charity event – from participating teams, dedicated friends and family, and all the attendees. This year’s Charity Football Event surpassed expectations in both size and support. It’s an honour to organise these fundraisers for charities, and I hope to have done Oran proud.”

The Alchemy Cup holds a poignant significance, being organised in memory of Oran Boyd, who valiantly battled Severe Aplastic Anaemia before passing away at the age of 18. Andrena Boyd, Oran’s mother, expressed heartfelt gratitude for the event, stating, “I am hugely grateful to Alchemy and James for their outstanding efforts in fundraising for a vital charity that aided immensely during Orans Journey. It was great to see so many people showing their support and huge congratulations to all involved.”

Alchemy Technology Services thanked the teams and sponsors for their generous support and without whom the event would not have been possible AXA Northern Ireland, R Turner Cars, FinTrU, Allstate Northern Ireland, MetaCompliance Ltd., PJD Body Repairs, Doherty’s Home Bakery, and AB Motors for their unwavering dedication. Gratitude also extends to the sponsors, whose contributions enriched the event: McCauley Moto, Quaker IO, JD Car Care, and Donnybrook Estate Agents & Chartered Surveyors.

The excitement of the day was further amplified by a fantastic raffle, featuring coveted prizes such as a signed Ireland jersey by James McClean.
