City of Derry Airport is proud to announce its support of the Ireland Masters Over 35’s Hockey Team as they prepare to compete at the World Masters Hockey World Cup in Rotterdam, Netherlands, this summer.
The tournament, which brings together the world’s leading masters hockey players, will take place in Rotterdam from 22nd July – 1st August, attracting teams from across the globe to compete at the highest level of international master’s hockey.
The partnership reflects City of Derry Airport’s ongoing commitment to supporting local talent, promoting sporting achievement, and showcasing the Northwest region through international engagement, with local player Emma Allen from Priorians Hockey Club in Derry~Londonderry representing the Northwest on the Ireland panel.
Speaking about the sponsorship, Steve Frazer, Managing Director at City of Derry Airport, said: “We are delighted to support the Ireland Masters Over 35’s Hockey Team as they compete at the World Cup in Rotterdam.
“The players have demonstrated outstanding commitment and dedication to their sport, having travelled from City of Dery Airport to compete in the recent Home Nations Tournament in Southgate earlier this month, and we are proud to play a role in helping them represent Ireland on the international stage this summer. We wish the team every success in the tournament and we will be cheering them on every step of the way.”
Emma Allen shared her gratitude to the Airport and excitement for the journey ahead: “I am incredibly grateful for the support from City of Derry Airport as we prepare to represent Ireland in the Masters Hockey World Cup in Rotterdam this summer. Masters hockey is entirely self‑funded, so sponsorship like this genuinely makes a difference – it helps us focus on our preparation and our performance. I’m thrilled to be part of a squad filled with dedication, experience, and passion. It’s a huge honour to represent your country and I am looking forward to playing against some of the world’s best. We are deeply thankful to City of Derry Airport for backing us on this journey. Their support means the world to us, and we can’t wait to give everything we have in Rotterdam.”
The World Masters Hockey World Cup is one of the sport’s premier international events, providing a platform for continued excellence in hockey beyond the senior international ranks. Live coverage of the event will be available online from 22nd July – 1st August.
