Regulations for the re-opening of indoor hospitality, hotels, indoor visitor attractions (etc.) on Monday 24 May have been announced. Below is a summary of the key points you must know for your business, with a sector-by-sector summary of the requirements.
Hospitality:
- Social distancing of one metre applies to relevant hospitality venues. Otherwise 2 metres social distancing applies.
- Unlicensed and licensed premises may re-open indoors, subject to mitigations previously in place for outdoor opening. Table numbers inside and outside are restricted to 6 people from as many households. A maximum of 10 people are allowed to sit together if they are all from one household. The numbers do not include children aged 12 and under
- All contact details must be recorded and retained.
- All customers must stay at table – no gaming machines, pool tables, etc.;
- Face coverings must be worn once no longer seated for any reason, for example to go to the toilet.
- No live music or dancing is permitted. Recorded music must be played at ambient level to permit normal conversation.
- No meal requirement (i.e. do not need to purchase food to stay in premises).
- All other hospitality events (e.g. gala dinners) face a risk assessment for capacity, and are subject to other indoor hospitality requirements e.g. table seating, contact details, music (etc.)
Tourism:
- Tourist accommodation may fully reopen subject to allow overnight accommodation for groups of up to 6 people from 2 households, or groups of up to 10 from 2 households in a bubble or where one household has more than 6 members.
- All contact details must be recorded and retained.
- Those responsible for indoor attractions, indoor sports facilities, indoor swimming pools, and tourist accommodation must comply with visitor and attendee information requirements.
- Shared facilities and meeting rooms will be reopened – capacity will be to risk assessment maximum.
Weddings/Civil Partnership ceremonies:
- Risk assessment for venue capacity.
- No restrictions on numbers or household requirements for the top table.
- Other tables maximum of 10, with no household restrictions.
- Children under 12 excluded from table numbers.
- One dance permitted for the couple.
- No live music or dancing (except for couple) is permitted. Recorded music must be played at ambient level to permit normal conversation.
Entertainment:
- All indoor visitor attractions including arcades, bingo halls, museums, galleries and cinemas can reopen.
- Social distancing where possible.
- All contact details must be recorded and retained.
- Libraries may fully reopen, subject to mitigations.
Indoor and outdoor gatherings:
- Increased numbers permitted for indoor gatherings subject to risk assessment per venue if over 15 people.
- Outdoor gatherings permitted with a maximum of 500, or capped at risk asssessment level if lower.
- Allows up to 500 spectators at any outdoors event (sport/concerts etc)
- Lateral flow tests advised for any planned larger events.
