Recruitment exercise to launch for three members to the Board of Londonderry Port and Harbour Commissioners

The Department for Infrastructure (DfI) will soon be advertising an open competition to recruit three Non-Executive Members to the Board of Londonderry Port and Harbour Commissioners (LPHC). Advertisements will be placed in the Irish News, the Belfast Telegraph, the Newsletter, the Londonderry Sentinel and Derry Journal, week ending 21 February 2025.

The current remuneration is approximately £9,811 (under review) per annum based on anticipated attendance of 2 full business days per month. The Members will be expected to attend Board meetings and other ad hoc meetings as required. This may involve a commitment both inside and outside of normal working hours, including representing LPHC at occasional evening engagements.

Foyle Port

Foyle Port is the key marine gateway to the North West of Ireland for both commerce and tourism. The Port handles approximately two million tonnes of cargo per annum and offers a diverse range of services. Supporting an estimate of 1000 direct and indirect jobs, the Port makes a vital contribution to the North West regional economy

Further Information on the Port is available at: www.foyleport.com

Public Body Board Membership

The Department for Infrastructure would like to see the membership of its Public Body Boards reflect more closely the makeup of the society in which we live. Women, younger people, people with a disability and ethnic minority communities are currently underrepresented on our Boards and so applications from these groups would be particularly welcome.  Applications are also invited from people who have gained suitable experience from within the community or voluntary sectors.

The Department is operating the Guaranteed Interview Scheme in this competition for applicants with a disability.
