Ambassadors hear directly from North West firms on Windsor Framework Realities

A delegation of EU Ambassadors, led by EU Ambassador to the UK Pedro Serrano, visited Chamber last  week to engage with local business representatives and hear first-hand how post-Brexit trading arrangements are working in practice.

The visit formed part of a wider two-day programme across Northern Ireland, including stops in Belfast, Lough Neagh, and Derry/Londonderry, where the Ambassadors met with political leaders, civic organisations, and local enterprises to explore opportunities in EU-UK relations.

During their time in Derry, the Ambassadors met Chamber representatives and other local firms to discuss the realities of trading under the Windsor Framework, as well as wider themes such as skills, investment, and regional connectivity. Businesses shared their experiences of adapting to new customs processes and maintaining cross-border and cross-channel trade links.

The discussions highlighted the resilience and innovation of North West businesses, many of whom continue to expand into new markets despite the challenges of changing trade regulations. Chamber representatives also outlined the area’s growing strengths in digital technology, advanced manufacturing, and green industries, all of which benefit from continued international cooperation and investment.

Ambassador Serrano praised the strong community spirit and economic potential of the North West, noting that visits like these help maintain constructive dialogue between EU partners and regions across Northern Ireland.
