Understanding the Importance and Implementing Effective Approaches for a Mentally Healthy Workplace.

Overview:
In today’s fast-paced work environment, mental health has become a critical concern for organisations. A mentally healthy workplace not only supports the well-being of employees but also contributes to overall productivity and organisational success. This workshop, taking place on Mental Health Day, will explore the significance of mental health in the workplace and provide participants with practical approaches to fostering a supportive and mentally healthy work environment.

Learning Outcomes:
By the end of this workshop, participants will:

  1. Understand Mental Health
    • Gain a comprehensive understanding of what mental health entails, including the distinction between mental health and mental illness.
  2. Recognise the Impact of Mental Health on the Workplace
    • Explore how mental health and mental illness affect workplaces, particularly in the context of Northern Ireland, including impacts on employee performance, absenteeism, and workplace culture.
  3. Implement Approaches to Create a Mentally Healthy Workplace
    • Learn and discuss practical strategies and approaches that can be implemented to promote a mentally healthy workplace, fostering a supportive environment for all employees.

This workshop is ideal for managers, HR professionals, team leaders, and anyone interested in promoting mental health within their organisation.

Facilitator:
Stephen McCrudden – Head of Education and training (West), AWARE NI

Steve is AWARE’s Head of Education and Training (West), where he leads the delivery of the Mood Matters suite of wellbeing programs, including Living Life to the Full and Mental Health First Aid. With a deep passion for mental health, Steve is dedicated to creating and delivering programs that emphasise prevention, early intervention, and recovery.

His work is driven by a commitment to empowering schools and community groups with practical tools and techniques to maintain their mental health and manage mood during times of change. Steve brings a wealth of experience from his background in community development, business management for community and voluntary organisations, and strategic and operational planning.
