Mayor’s Charity Event: Dine in the Dark

Your organisation is invited to take part in a unique and inspiring fundraising event in support of the Mayor’s Charity, HIVE Cancer Support. This special event, Dine in the Dark, will take place on Thursday 8 October 2026 in the historic Guildhall, Derry, marking World Sight Day 2026.

Dine in the Dark will offer participants a rare opportunity to experience a three-course meal while wearing blindfolds during dinner service, helping to build awareness and understanding of the challenges faced by people living with sight loss. The evening will also include entertainment and networking opportunities with business and community leaders from across the District.

By supporting this event, your organisation will:

• Help raise vital funds for HIVE Cancer Support and the important services it provides to individuals and families affected by cancer.
• Promote greater awareness and understanding of sight impairment among employees.
• Provide a memorable team-building and staff development experience.
• Demonstrate your commitment to corporate social responsibility and community engagement.
• Connect with fellow businesses and community partners from across the District.

We particularly encourage businesses to book a table and invite colleagues to attend as part of workplace awareness and inclusion training while supporting an important local cause. Guests will also have the opportunity to make donations to RNIB on the night.
