As part of our Net Zero Series we invite you to embark on a unique networking experience amidst the serene beauty of Faughan Valley Woodland. In collaboration with the Woodland Trust NI, we present “Networking in Nature,” an event designed to foster connections, inspire collaboration, and rejuvenate spirits amidst the lush greenery of one of Northern Ireland’s most cherished natural landscapes.

Date: June 5th 2024
Time: 10:30 AM – 12:30 PM
Location: Faughan Valley Woodlands
Meeting Point: Red Brae Wood Carpark

The event will entail a guided walk through the woodland, a break for refreshments halfway and networking opportunities throughout. Limited to only 20 participants, this intimate gathering promises meaningful interactions and opportunities to forge new professional relationships.

This event is open to representatives from all member organisations, but to ensure diverse networking opportunities, we’re restricting participation to one person per organisation.

Whether you’re seeking new partnerships, exploring innovative ideas, or simply looking to unwind in nature’s embrace, Networking in Nature offers the perfect setting to connect with like-minded professionals while immersing yourself in the tranquillity of Faughan Valley Woodland.

Please note: You’ll be required to make your own way to the meeting point and wear appropriate attire and footwear for outdoor walking. In case of inclement weather, participants will be notified of any changes to the event schedule.

Why the Woodland Trust NI?

The Woodland Trust is the UK’s largest woodland conservation charity – working in Northern Ireland for almost 25 years to restore, protect and create our precious woodland for the benefit of the environment, wildlife, and people. They achieve this by focusing on 3 main areas of work:

  • To Create: Plant woods and trees to assist nature recovery, combat climate change and build a greener future for Northern Ireland.
  • To protect: saving woods and trees from damage, standing up against needless destruction and leading the fight against tree pests and diseases.
  • To restore: bringing damaged ancient and long-established woods back to life, resorting irreplaceable ecosystems so wildlife can thrive once again.

NI Woodland Facts

  • Northern Ireland is the least wooded country in Europe at 8.7% vs Republic of Ireland at 11% and UK at 13%.
  • Correspondingly NI has the lowest coverage of ancient woodland in the UK, at a staggering 0.04%, much of which is in poor ecological condition.
  • To tackle the nature and climate crisis we not only need to plant trees, but we also need to make sure ancient woodlands and other habitats such as peatlands are in good condition – acting as carbon sinks and providing space for nature to thrive.

Any funds donated to Woodland Trust NI, at the discretion of the donor, will stay within Northern Ireland to fund their vital work here.
