Apex Housing Association recently welcomed internationally respected humanitarian Richard Moore as guest speaker at its Where People Thrive Staff Conference, reinforcing the organisation’s long-standing commitment to people, partnership and social impact.

Richard Moore, Founder and Executive Director of Children in Crossfire, delivered a presentation entitled Freedom in Forgiveness, sharing his personal story and powerful message of resilience, compassion and hope. His address inspired staff while highlighting the transformative impact organisations can have when purpose and community are placed at the heart of business strategy.

The conference also shone a spotlight on Apex’s enduring partnership with Children in Crossfire, a relationship that has spanned more than two decades and demonstrates the important role businesses and organisations across the North West can play in driving positive social change both locally and globally.

Since 2001, Apex staff, tenants and residents have raised more than £300,000 in support of life-changing projects in Kenya and Tanzania through payroll giving, fundraising initiatives and community-led activities. The partnership has helped fund sustainable projects developed and delivered by local communities in East Africa, supporting education, health and wider community development.

At a time when environmental, social and governance (ESG) priorities are increasingly shaping business leadership, Apex continues to demonstrate how organisations can deliver meaningful social value alongside economic contribution. Beyond its core role in housing provision, the organisation also supports employment, community wellbeing and regional development.
