Derry Chamber President Andrew Fleming is visiting the United States during St. Patrick’s week to bolster economic connections and advocate on behalf of the North West region.

As Chamber President, Andrew has expressed a strong commitment to championing the North West region, emphasising its potential for growth and innovation.​ Engaging with key business leaders, policymakers, and members of the Irish-American community, Andrew has been highlighting the North West region’s economic vibrancy and unlocked potential.

“We have a unique and quite remarkable opportunity here in the North West to promote the good story we have now achieved, such as the City Region Deal, the expansion of our local Magee Campus and City Regeneration.

“Supporting the existing economy is crucial – we have many fantastic businesses in the North West that are supported by an American base or who do a lot of business in the States, and building and strengthening these relations are key.

“As President of Derry Chamber, I am steadfast in my commitment to continuously strengthening and improving the economic wellbeing of the North West.”

Andrew’s visit to the US also underscores the enduring relationship between the Island of Ireland and the United States, and the role the North West has to play in this. With positive local developments including the recent announcement of a £1.2m grant from the Department for Communities to fund the purchase of the Austins building in the heart of Derry City, and its subsequent planned regeneration by the Inner City Trust, the future of the North West is bright.
