It’s Good News Friday and this week we celebrate the legendary Phil Coulter who will be receiving the Freedom of the City Award from Derry City and Strabane District Council today!

Phil is to receive the much-deserved award in recognition of his lifetime of achievement and years of contribution to music, culture, and the city.

To celebrate this and other milestones, including the 10th edition of the City of Derry International Choir Festival and as part of Phil’s 80th birthday year, very fittingly Phil will perform live his iconic hit ‘The Town I Loved So Well’ this Saturday (8 October) at 2pm at Ebrington Square.

The one-off ‘Come and Sing’ event will be filmed for broadcast as part of this year’s City of Derry International Choir Festival later in the month (19 – 23 October).

Participation is completely FREE and all are welcome so why not come down and take part in what will be a truly momentous occasion for the city alongside the legendary Phil Coulter!

Sponsored by Chamber members, Allstate NI, the event is set to get the people of Derry singing and ready for this year’s fabulous festival of music!

On behalf of the Chamber, we would also very much like to recognise Phil’s continuing support for us and the wider North West business community, taking part recently in one of our ‘Succeed Northwest’ events in Belfast. Congratulations on your Freedom of the City Award, we look forward to soaking in the fantastic atmosphere on Saturday!
