16 May 2025
Find out MoreDerry Chamber is thrilled to celebrate a remarkable success story, as local television production company and Chamber member Alleycats TV brought home a coveted BAFTA award for their BBC Two series, “Clive Myrie’s Caribbean Adventure.”
The show triumphed in the Daytime category and beat off stiff competition such as Richard Osman’s House of Games (BBC Two) and Loose Women (ITV1), highlighting the exceptional talent and creativity flourishing in the North West. Produced entirely by the Alleycats team, the series followed BBC news anchor Clive Myrie as he explored his Caribbean heritage, travelling from Cuba to Barbados and uncovering the vibrancy, history, and energy of the region. Despite tight filming schedules of just over two days per episode across 15 episodes, the team delivered a visually stunning series that resonated with both audiences and critics alike.
Director Des Henderson led the production on location, while a dedicated home team in Derry including producers Emma Parkins, Ed Stobart, Denis Minihan, and Jane Magowan shaped the series with compelling storytelling.
Head of Production Judy Wilson and Production Manager Niamh Kelly ensured the project ran seamlessly, and editors Reuben McNutt and Ciaran O’Hagan brought the final product to life from their base in Derry.
Speaking on behalf of the Alleycats team, Executive Producer Ed Stobart, said:
“The level of support we’ve had from Derry has been both amazing and humbling, as it always has been in our 14-year history, and we are proud to bring the BAFTAs home.”
