Derry Chamber has welcomes the launch of The PrintWorks, a new enterprise and innovation hub announced by Enterprise North West, as a milestone in the region’s current period of growth and opportunity.

The redevelopment of the former Derry News building in Springtown, delivered with support from Derry City & Strabane District Council and Community Finance Ireland, will create 40 initial jobs, support up to 50 business start-ups, and help 200 people into employment through targeted business support and training programmes. The financial impact of these initiatives is projected to exceed £9 million, with £1 million expected to recirculate into the wider DCSDC economy.

Anna Doherty, CEO, Derry Chamber, said:

“The PrintWorks represents exactly the kind of investment that is reshaping the narrative of our region. The North West is in the midst of real and tangible change. Confidence is growing, new sectors are emerging, and major international players are setting up and strengthening their business presence across our region.

“This isn’t just about new offices. It’s about signalling to entrepreneurs, investors and our local business community that Derry is a city on the rise, a place where innovation can thrive, and where growth is being actively built into our future.”

For Enterprise North West, which celebrated its 38th anniversary this year, the project is also a milestone in its long-standing mission to promote business and economic growth across the region. With three key workspaces already in operation – Skeoge’s North West Business Complex, 104 Ebrington Square, and now The PrintWorks – the organisation has cemented itself as a cornerstone of the North West’s entrepreneurial landscape.

Greg McCann, Chairperson of Enterprise North West, and former Chamber President, said:

“This project marks an exciting new chapter for Enterprise North West and the wider community. The PrintWorks is the latest addition to our rebranded MaidenSpaces property portfolio. The upgraded facilities will be ideal for businesses in IT, finance, professional services, and the creative and digital industries.”

“The PrintWorks will provide modern workspaces, business support and event spaces, enabling us to host more start-ups, scale-ups and training programmes. This demonstrates our commitment to fostering entrepreneurship and economic growth in the region.”

The PrintWorks is scheduled for completion in December 2026, and as momentum builds across the region, the Chamber views this investment as another strong sign that the North West is entering a period of opportunity, hope, and growth.
