Job Description:

We are seeking a highly motivated, confident Electrical Engineer with experience in industrial and manufacturing sites. The successful candidate will be on a fast-tracked program to SAP and AE levels for both High and Low Voltage. This individual will manage and develop contracts across a wide range of business sectors including renewables on the island of Ireland.

They would be experienced in a fast moving, challenging multi-contracts environment.

They would also need to demonstrate technical capabilities and technical mentoring to various clients.

Job Roles

  • To be trained and mentored to act as a HV Authorised Person on Client sites in accordance with Client or Horizon Engineering Electrical Safety Rules.
  • Manage and deliver HV/LV Maintenance programmes on Client sites utilising approved specialist contractors.
  • Support the development of an “in-house” training facility equipped with HV and LV Switchgear.
  • Provide technical consultation to various clients on energy consumption through site audits and developing improvement plans.
  • Minimise the clients’ energy procurement cost and manage exposure to market risk.
  • Identification of areas of “significant energy use”
  • Develop feasibility studies for Electrical improvement/projects and project management to completion.
  • Develop and implement best in Industry Standards at Client Sites, to include:
    • Electricity at Work Regulations and their application.
    • Electrical Hazards and Precautions.
    • Secondary Hazards and Emergency Conditions.
    • Operational and Safety Features of Switchgear.
    • Substations and Safety Requirements.
    • Fundamentals and Structure of Electrical Safety Rules documents covering HV and LV Systems.
    • Operational Procedures.
    • Outline of the Use of Electrical Protection on Industrial HV Systems.
    • Routine Maintenance Procedures for HV and LV Switchgear and Transformers.
    • Contingency Planning in the Event of Mains Failure.
    • Fault finding and Fault Diagnosis Techniques on HV and LV Systems.
    • Entry Into Substations.
  • Deliver Training Courses to small groups at the Horizon Training School in Ravenhill Road, Belfast.

 

 

Qualifications and Aptitude:

  • ONC, HNC, BSC or equivalent in an electrical subject and/or have a minimum of three years relevant experience.
  • Capable of managing the activity, taking responsibility, and acting safely under all circumstances.
  • Must be able to demonstrate excellent PC skills covering the full range of Google suite & ability to develop and deliver presentations at both client and internal levels

Skills:

  • Have a good understanding of all the necessary safety measures to be taken to avoid Danger, and to prevent Injury and damage to equipment.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the maintenance and operation of energy metering and monitoring systems.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the maintenance and operation of a Building Management System
  • Develop and drive cost reduction programmes for Utility Plant
  • Demonstrate a level of engineering project management skills (range 20 -100k)
  • Participate in and attend cross functional meetings
  • Maintain quality relationships with clients, suppliers, and sub-contractors
  • Identify opportunities to diversify or increase contractual services
  • Report to the Operations Manager on KPI performance
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and confidence in dealing with client management
