The Playhouse is recruiting a pool of freelance facilitators with lived experience and/or expertise in a number of rights-based topics for a new creative arts project: ‘That’s Powerful’. Expressions of interest are now welcome from facilitators domiciled across Northern Ireland, the border areas and the Republic of Ireland. Successful facilitators with relevant experience will be added to our database to work on this programme throughout 2024 (with potential to extend).

What is That’s Powerful?

‘That’s Powerful’ is a suite of rights-based creative workshops that culminate in artistic events, launching in 2024. The programme is co-designed with schools, communities and localities across Northern Ireland and border areas. Groups are encouraged to choose a topic that matters to them to centre their programme around. Groups can choose from human rights and access topics such as: women’s rights and education; migrants and displaced people’s rights; classism, racism, disability, and LGBTQ+ rights; post conflict resolution, peace and reconciliation, and/or climate action and conservation. That’s Powerful works to cultivate creativity, nurture civic discourse and harness the power of the arts to amplify shared learning.

Your role

Each ‘That’s Powerful’ group will be matched with a facilitator with lived experience of their chosen topic, and an artist to support them in creatively exploring the themes of the topic. The program will begin in March 2024 with initial celebrations taking place in Summer 2024. ‘That’s Powerful’ recognises the nuanced needs of different communities, meaning each project can be tailored to suit the needs of different groups. All work hours will be mutually agreed upon in advance of the commencement of programmes.

Artist fees: £35 per hour for delivery and a rate of £20 per hour of planning.
(Planning hours must be mutually agreed with The Community Relations Officer in advance.)
