Derry/Londonderry based McCay Legal has acquired AD McClay & Company Solicitors in a deal which will grow the firm’s staff to a headcount of 20 and allow it to offer certain services south of the border for the first time.

AD McClay has been providing legal services in the city since 1984, having initially been set up by Don McClay who was a partner in the firm until his retirement. The firm has mainly focussed on the practice areas of residential and commercial property, wills and probate and family law.

McCay Legal was set up in 2014 by Gareth McCay and has offices in Derry, Strabane and Omagh. The firm offers services such as employment law, commercial law, litigation, property and probate.

Mr McCay said: “Our industry is going through huge changes particularly in the Northwest where there is a skills deficit, so we have been open to a merger to continue to allow us to grow.

“When we were approached with this opportunity, we were attracted by the range of services that AD McClay offers as well as the skillset and experience of its staff.

“I am delighted that Charles has remained with the firm and I wish Neville every happiness in his retirement. This is a fantastic opportunity for our staff to learn from the team’s vast experience in the industry. Together with Don McClay they have built a business that has been hugely successful, and they are held in high esteem within the legal fraternity.

With the increased resources provided by a team of dedicated staff, we anticipate the continuation and growth of the business providing a high quality and extensive range of legal services for existing and new clients.”

McCay Legal will be happy to welcome new clients through their doors and are looking forward to meeting other members and working alongside the Chamber in its endeavours.
