The McCay Legal Community Fund was set up by Managing Director Gareth McCay in April 2023 and is now in the process of being allocated for the 2023/24 year with a number of charities in the North West set to benefit.

McCay Legal donated £50 to its community fund from every conveyancing matter that it closed in the 2023/24 in order to support good causes and people making a difference in the local community.

Gareth McCay Managing Director explained,

“We developed our Community Fund so that we could give something back to the local community who have supported us over the last 10 years. This year our theme is ‘amazing families’ so we wanted to honour families who have emerged from tragedy to make a positive contribution in the name of their loved one. Each of our recipients do just that and we are delighted to play our part. We are very grateful to all of our conveyancing clients who have enabled us to make this gesture.”

The firm has announced the organisations that will benefit from the funds are, The Patricia Hughes Bursary Scheme, The Rory Carlin Memorial Fund, The Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust & The Ryan McBride Foundation.

The Patricia Hughes Bursary was set up in the memory of a much-loved St Columb’s College school teacher who passed away in 2016. The Bursary provides funding to a pupil who is in receipt of EMA to support their first year of university in order to provide an equal opportunity to higher-level education. The Rory Carlin Memorial Fund was set up after the sudden death of the popular Strabane man with several fundraising initiatives taking place to fund drug awareness and suicide prevention via the Koram Centre in Strabane. The Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust was founded in June 2013 by the family of Kevin Bell who tragically died in New York. As a permanent legacy to Kevin, his family have set up a charity which assists financially and logistically to repatriate those who have died whilst abroad. The Ryan McBride Foundation was established after the sudden death of Derry City Football legend Ryan who sadly passed away in 2017. Ryan’s passion for the game and legacy lives on actively through the Foundation which works with young people to assist, inspire and support them to achieve their goals and encourages a healthy lifestyle.
