A small business in Limavady is using heat pump technology in their new garden studio, to create a covid-safe, flexible and comfortable space for clients.

Due to multiple lockdowns, home-working for many people has become the norm. Even now, extending remote-work arrangements beyond the pandemic are becoming a serious consideration for many forward-thinking businesses. However, keeping your home and work life separate can be challenging, so it’s of no surprise that garden rooms have become very popular.

One local client to air cool engineering NI, had many reasons to move their nail art business out of the home and into the garden. However after the first lockdown in March 2020, with restrictions not allowing mixing of different households in a private home, the small business owner’s decision to make the move to a garden room was accelerated.

Martin Mullan, Managing Director of air cool engineering NI explained ‘Extending the home heating system to the garden ‘studio’ wasn’t a feasible option, and to make her new ‘workplace’ usable all year round, our client needed a simple and cost-effective heating, cooling and ventilation solution which would ensure clients felt comfortable and covid-safe during their appointments.’

air cool engineering NI’s solution was to install a Mitsubishi Electric M Series air conditioning system. Using advanced heat pump technology, the M Series wall mounted system efficiently delivers heating and cooling to small and medium sized spaces. The stylish and compact wall mounted unit perfectly suits the room’s decor. Plus, as the M Series only requires a single phase electricity supply, installation is quick and easy. The M Series is available as wall or floor mounted units.

The client was also concerned about ventilation and wanted a simple solution to provide fresh, filtered air – without having to open windows. We installed a Mitsubishi Electric VL-100EU wall mounted Lossnay to provide heat recovery ventilation to the space. This unit is even more compact than the wall mounted air conditioning unit and will provide fresh air vertically or horizontally into the space via a simple adjustable flap on the front of the unit. The Lossnay is positioned to serve the working area, providing fresh air ventilation in these uncertain times.

air cool engineering’s client commented: ‘To become more covid-compliant and to ensure my family and clients are safe at all times, moving my ‘workspace’ into the garden became a priority. As the nail studio is detached from my house, the stand alone air conditioning and ventilation system will give me the flexibility to safely extend appointment availability and operate in all weathers too. I am confident that with air cool engineering’s help, I have all measures in place to make my business covid-safe and comfortable for myself, clients and family. After such a long period of lockdown, I’m really looking forward to getting back to work and welcoming my wonderful clients to my new garden nail studio.’
