Today we’re highlighting all the exciting member events taking place as part of NI Science Fest 2023! Established in 2014, the NI Science Festival has brought some of the biggest stars in science communication to Northern Ireland. The festival offers a stimulating and wide range of events focusing on the wonders of science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics. These events present some of the best scientists from Northern Ireland and beyond to discuss their work, cutting-edge research and what the future might hold. The festival offers a wide range of workshop, tours, talks and events for people of all ages. With various Chamber members participating in the festivities.


The Playhouse Derry will be host to a series of imaginative talks and events as part of the festival. Today at 8pm, The Royal College of Pathologists will put on a Living Autopsy at the Playhouse where attendees will be taken through the process of a post-mortem examination and explain the role of pathologists.

SIREN23 takes place on the 18 of February at The Playhouse. SIREN23 brings together a range of inspiration speakers, traders and environmental organisations to share ideas and practical solutions on everything from conservation to living a more eco-friendly lifestyle. SIREN23 includes Re-Mapping the North West with V’cenza Cirefice, Beetles for Breakfast with Royal Society of Young People’s Book Prize shortlisted author Madeline Finlay and a whole host of other workshops, and stalls to visit throughout the day.

North West Regional College is hosting a range of events for more information for students about getting started in STEM. The Science of Medicine Manufacture will provide students with hands on experience of undertaking the synthesis and solubilization of paracetamol. Students will have the chance to learn about genetic fingerprinting and its role in society today.

Fleming Agri Products is hosting a factory tour of their facilities. The tour is a chance to explore one of Ireland and the UK’s oldest manufacturers of agricultural machinery, explore the company’s heritage and values. You’ll also have the chance to gain incredible insights into their production processes and customer-focused practices.

You’ll also get an exclusive behind the scenes look at Terex’s Factory Tours. Terex is a world-famous global manufacturer of material whose products are used in a variety of industries globally. The tour is a rare chance to get insights into a variety of engineering processes, explore career opportunities and the day-to-day functioning of the industry.

Join Kathryn Harkup, former chemist turned author, at Bishop’s Gate Hotel on Saturday 18 February, where she’ll explore all things science and technology in James Bond. In her talk Harkup will explore the full range of 007’s exploits and the arms, technologies, tactics, and downfalls of his various foes.

Drop into Foyleside Shopping Centre between 11am and 3pm on Saturday 18 Feburary to join Seagate and the Photonic Integration and Advanced Data Storage Centre for Doctoral Training at QUB for an interactive display for all ages that answer all your questions about light, data, everyday technology and if anything can travel faster than the speed of light.
