Terex Materials Processing (MP), a global leader in materials processing machinery and equipment is pleased to announce the purchase of Steelweld Fabrications Limited, a manufacturer of heavy fabrications, serving the crushing and screening industry based in Cookstown, Co. Tyrone, Northern Ireland.

Steelweld was founded in 1983 by Dominic Crilly, with a vision to design and develop engineering solutions to industry. Over the past 40 years, the company has built a highly skilled work force and has a valued reputation for high levels of quality and service.

Terex MP is a rapidly growing, global business and it is exciting acquisitions such as this that will provide further opportunities and market share in the crushing and screening and environmental industries.

Steelweld Fabrications’ acquisition is a part of a long-term fabrications strategy that involves further significant investment in Terex MPs light/medium fabrication facility in Ballymoney. There will still be a requirement to purchase significant volumes of fabrications from external sources. Steelweld’s expertise in heavy fabrications will provide additional knowledge and talent in an area of fabrication necessary to the day-to-day manufacturing processes at Terex MP.

Steelweld’s 65,000 square foot facility is within a short driving distance to the Terex Omagh, Dungannon and Ballymoney sites, providing ready access to other local teams and enabling close coordination with the resources at these facilities. This along with the fact that Steelweld are an existing supplier to Terex MP, meaning that there is already a strong relationship between these sites which will make the integration of this business an efficient and natural process.

We plan to call the site Terex Cookstown, and the team will report through to our Fabrications Director, Jonathan Hanna. Jonathan has extensive experience in fabrications and leads the operations at the Terex Ballymoney site.

Commenting on the announcement, Pat Brian, Vice President, Mobile Crushing and Screening, Terex said, “The addition of Steelweld to our operations will help bolster our growth and improve our service to our dealers. The business has been well managed and has for many years been one of our most consistent suppliers. We very much look forward to working with our new team members and helping the facility in Cookstown grow and prosper.”

Dominic Crilly commented, “I am extremely proud of how Steelweld has grown over nearly 40 years and to have a global company like Terex to be interested in our business is a testament to what we have collectively achieved. Steelweld will now benefit from the global resources of Terex to develop and grow to new levels; I feel this is the right move for our business and team and I will always care deeply for our Steelweld community.”
