On Thursday 3 June, a webinar on the theme “Leading Northern Ireland’s public transport transformation” will be hosted by the Urban Transport Group (UTG). This will take place between 12pm-1pm and will feature Translink Group Chief Executive Chris Conway in conversation with award-winning journalist Wendy Austin on the current position of public transport in Northern Ireland.

Prior to the pandemic, Translink recorded several years of sustained passenger growth, culminating in 2018/19 with 84.5m passengers recorded, the highest such figure in 20 years.  The recovery from COVID-19 has the potential put public transport at the centre of a healthy, sustainable, inclusive and responsible recovery for everyone in Northern Ireland, allowing Translink to grow and develop passenger numbers and service options further in the years ahead, supported by appropriate investment in services and infrastructure.

You are invited to join the conversation and learn more about the challenges the pandemic has brought to public transport in Northern Ireland, as well as the opportunities made available by technological innovation, including hydrogen and battery-electric options, which drives their goal to operate a wholly Zero Emission bus and rail fleet by 2040.

More information is available here, including an Eventbrite link to register your attendance.  The event is free to attend and open to all.
