Tailored AI Support for Start Ups and SMEs

Londonderry Chamber, Causeway Chamber, Letterkenny Chamber and Catalyst recently heard from Matt Cooper, CEO Volta (Nova Scotia), brought together regional stakeholders from private enterprise, academia and the public sector to explore how the North West City Region can harness AI to drive productivity, competitiveness and innovation.

The NW City Region has historically been an area for innovation. Now today AI has given an incontestable opportunity for SMEs to adopt this pioneering technology to rewrite how SMEs do business in the region. The North West City Region has an opportunity to become the leading AI Innovation zone of these islands.

Volta is a case study on how SMEs and start ups can adopt AI to improve efficiency and streamline services so SMEs and start ups can spend more time accelerating scaling. AI can also be adopted to retrofit more traditional businesses. For example, Milk Moovement a Canadian dairy logistics platform, demonstrates how AI integration optimises operations, boosts efficiency and reduce costs across supply chains.

For the North West City Region, the message was clear: AI can transform how SMEs operate unlocking new levels of productivity and competitiveness. By fostering collaboration between business, education and innovation hubs, the region can position itself as a digital corridor between the EU and North America, leading the next wave of AI driven growth.
